Information to Gather Before You Call
- Property address, county, parcel information, and approximate acreage
- Photos or video from each major work area
- Structures, foundations, mobile homes, barns, sheds, decks, and fences
- Machinery, vehicles, trailers, implements, tanks, tires, and scrap
- Brush piles, fallen trees, dense vegetation, stumps, and access limitations
- Concrete, construction debris, household accumulation, and dumped material
- Known wells, septic systems, utilities, easements, tanks, chemicals, or hazardous concerns
- The property’s next use and the exact finish you expect
Define What Stays
Identify usable equipment, valuable metal, family property, active fencing, desirable trees, buildings, utilities, and materials that must remain. Marking retained items before work begins is far safer than trying to separate them while machinery is operating.
Describe Access Honestly
Gate width, road condition, low branches, slopes, mud, soft ground, overhead lines, bridges, drainage crossings, neighboring property, and truck-turning space affect what equipment can reach the work. Access problems are usually solvable when they are identified early.
Separate Known Specialty Materials
Fuel, oils, chemicals, batteries, refrigerants, asbestos-containing material, sealed tanks, propane cylinders, tires, contaminated soil, and unknown drums may require testing or separate handling. Disclosing them protects the schedule and prevents a load from being rejected.
Choose the Finished Condition
“Clean it up” can mean very different things. Decide whether structures and foundations are removed, holes are backfilled, disturbed areas are rough-graded, vegetation is hauled away, fence lines are cleared, and small surface debris is machine-raked. The clearer the finish, the stronger the project scope.
Permits, Utilities, and Ownership
Demolition and disposal requirements vary by city, county, utility provider, and structure type. Ownership authority, utility disconnection, permits, environmental surveys, and specialty reports may need to be resolved before work. These items should be identified—not assumed.
